Health & Safety at HCIP

The construction industry remains one of the largest in Great Britain, bringing employment to over 2 million people; it also remains extremely hazardous and a cause for significant concern.

The media tend to pick high profile health and safety incidents, which tend to happen on new build project sites, giving the impression that people are only at risk when large machinery or cranes are in use.

But the fact is that refurbishment projects can, if mismanaged, contain as many hazards both for site operatives and also employees based at the site concerned.

HCIP LTD are therefore committed to zero tolerance on all aspects of health and safety.

Each individual project we deliver is unique and requires detail on all health and safety areas, from the method statement, COSHH and Risk Assessments through to implementation on site including, weekly tool box talks and positive actioning towards indentifying potential site issues before they cause harm.

All our trades men on site have experience in manual handling and have their own training records kept with them, such as PAMSA (the certificate for the safe use and erection of mobile access towers). Any task needing a certificate required whilst on site can be produced as and when needed.

Located on Quay Street in Spinningfields, Bauhaus is an impressive Grade A office building. CAT A work commenced in 2018 in order to transform the building into a creative functional space for modern office working.

Working alongside, Space Invader Design, and SAS International, a mesh raft was installed over 8 floors to achieve the open soffit aesthetic look. This also allows for the possibility of partitioning for future tenants, with mesh being selected as it exposes the soffit whilst allowing integrations and creating an on-trend modern look.

The ground floor co-working business lounge provides a bespoke, informal meeting area away from the main work areas. We installed a timber slatted system in the ceiling to co inside with joinery features in the lounge area. This project not only featured our ceiling installations, we also carried out the installation of the partition systems, glazing, joinery items, and partition/ceiling finishes.

Over two contract phases, we worked professionally with Ardmac in order to obtain the highest standard of interior fit out workmanship possible.

HCIP had the privilege of being employed to carry out works for Leeds Diocese, located at York street, Leeds. The project lasted approximately ten weeks, consisting of works undertaken on the basement, ground floor, second floor and third floor.

The Diocese wanted a fresh new look of offices for their congregation to carry out their every day administrative tasks. They also wanted a friendly and welcoming cafe within the office space for visitors and staff to utilise.

The works included the stripping out and refurbishment of toilets, installation of full height glazed partitions with smart black trim, all doors and frames fitted to a high standard on all floors, installation of bespoke joinery which really added a sense of distinction and uniqueness to the offices, amongst numerous other small details which gave the project a complete feel.

This project was a huge success with an abundance of positive feedback coming from Leeds Diocese. Once the offices were completed they had some really original features ranging from the unconventional trim pattern running along the glazing, to the advanced work the Huddersfield Interiors team did for the decorative joinery, incorporating oak capping.

Under the employment of Sepura LTD situated in Cambridge, HCIP were requested to undergo multiple different works, spanning over 3 floors and lasting approximately 8 months. Sepura desired a full strip out, including ceilings and then a full fit out.

They wanted both MF Ceilings and suspended ceilings to be installed as well as acoustic barrier within the ceiling void to cancel out any unwanted sound travelling throughout the office’s.

The project incorporated innovative use of oak capping running along the ceiling of the breakout area, this provided a really smart and different look which Sepura were extremely happy with. HCIP fitted all normal partitions and glazed partitions as well as all the doors, frames and skirting.

The project was a huge success and was delivered on time to the high quality standard Sepura wanted. The wide range of materials used and the nature in which they were used, gave the office block a diversity and a distinctiveness which Sepura found especially endearing.
